good friends, good food, good FUN!
....the adventures of gock's frocks in NYC continued.....

well, we rolled home yesterday afternoon with a rather full car and a head full of memories. The trip was fantastic - even though the Market was not very well attended I felt it was a success on so many other levels.

Kudos first to my friend KIM
who graciously hosted us in her upper east side apartment - the perfect staging ground for so much fun. She is the best tour guide of NYC you could ever find....she also helped set-up, sit & sell, brought us a fabulous lunch....

My other partner in crime, who made the 5 1/2 hour trip with me and deserves a huge thanks is ERIN.
...she shared the driving, the lugging, the setting up & sitting and waiting for customers. These 2 ladies made the weekend so much easier for me & I want to send them a cyber thank you hug!

So....the excitement was in the air from the moment I hit the road. I think I was more excited to meet some of the people I have met over the past year selling online than to do the actual market. We got there bright & early at 8am and spent the next 2 hours setting up my space.

Then the fun began....meeting my online friends & seeing the other amazing talent that was at the show!

so...to share some more photos! 1st I got to meet Christine from GenMarie...we had been chatting on the phone the past few months in anticipation of the show but this was our 1st time meeting in person! Christine is a sweetheart & it was so much fun getting to know her the past few months....I am looking forward to seeing her again - maybe a trip to the garment district in NYC????

the next "friend" to wander in was Jordon from georgia grace designs on etsy! With her sweet southern charm and warm smile it was wonderful meeting her in person!

she had come into the city from NJ with her 3 year old twins, hubby and MIL! Thanks so much!

also in from NJ was the incredibly talented Geeta of Babette! fame! She and little Miss Lilah spent a good part of the afternoon hanging out with us

I couldn't get over how tiny Lilah is! When you see her on the computer & she fills the screen with all of her lovliness it is a surprise to see her walk in...she is too cute for words! It was such a treat to meet my first boutique friends!

I also had the chance to meet some wonderful new friends... talented, creative & friendly. I did not manage to get photos of everyone but here are a few goodies I did take....

these adorable dolls from WOOBERRY faced our both all day long.....

natalia from Lindamente had made the trip from Lisbon, Portugal!

Sebold Originals had made the trip from Wales and their felted wool creatures were true works of art!

more amazing art from cocoon desings....the detail, texture & imagination behind her work is fantastic!

and the lovely Melissa & her mom from Little Girl Pearl...they had come in from NH and her designs were simply delicious!

for more photos from the show head over to my flickr account!

In all, even though the outcome of the show was a bit of a disappointment it was a great learning experience and opportunity to make new friends and meet old ones...and I will have a very well stocked ETSY store! Head over to grab some of the goodies that made their NYC debut and are now available on etsy!

Thanks for the feature!!!

what a week it has been - I have emerged only briefly from my sewing lair to check in with the outside world - online world in this case.

I had a few pleasant surprises when I received a couple of emails that let me know I had been featured on some folks blogs! Whoo Hoo! Thanks so much!

The first was actually last Friday on an awesome blog...The Long Thread.. I have added this blog to my bookmarks as it is a great read!

Then I had the privilege of working with the photographer Virginia Payne...she featured gock's frocks on her Designers Showcase on her blog!

Today a fellow etsy faster featured me on her blog Handwoven by Kristin Kelley.... thanks so much Kristin!

And Vida's Market has gotten some good press with a link on the sidebar of Cool Mom Picks under here's something cool....

WOW! I should go into hibernation more often...but since I am here I will give you a few more sneak peeks of the goodies I have gotten ready for Vida's Market

and be sure to check out my etsy store for some fun new additions!

1 week and counting..............

until Vida's Market! I managed to make another dozen skirts and 40 tutus! No pics of the tutus yet - I'll try to share some tomorrow.

Here is a sneak peek at the skirts

In addition to all of my sewing I thought it was time to give myself an updated look - I had gravitated back to the haircut I sported senior year in high school - more than 20 years ago and decided I needed something fresh & funky! So...I chopped it off and added a few fun highlights. Leo was rooting for orange & green but basic blonde
won out...I may think about a bit of pink or purple as the big 40 approaches!

Customer Photo Share!

After a wonderful weekend away with family it was such a treat to find these adorable photos and wonderful feedback from a couple of new customers.

A few satisfied customers have recently shared their gock's frocks finds in their chat groups online. The result has been amazing! Etsy has been keeping me very busy and I have had fun sending packages all around the country!

I wanted to share with all of you some of the darling pictures they have sent me - it is so rewarding to see the sweet smiles of the kids as they show off their new gock's frocks!

Thanks Taryn & Kristen! Keep sending them in ladies!

isn't it cute - both girls paired their gock's frocks with Matilda Jane tanks!

a special note about this sweet little girl - I have learned from her mom that Havalah was the recipient of a liver transplant....she is a strong picture of why we should all consider organ donation .... I hope that after seeing this post you will all take some time to think about the importance of this and check out this important website for more information.

Thanks again & keep the customer photos coming!

2 weeks and counting...............

it is hard to believe but Vida's Market is just 2 weeks away! I have been
madly sewing - filling orders on etsy and making new inventory for NYC. Here is a snaek peek of some of the goodies heading to the big apple with me.

I am taking a break from it all for the next 48 hours to join my siblings in celebrating my parents 40th wedding anniversary! We are off to the Finger Lakes region in New York which is famous for the wonderful wine produced there. The East Coast version of Napa & Sonoma!

So cheers to my faithful blog readers ! Enjoy your weekend & I'll see you next week!

Happy Birthday to my BIG Baby!

My oldest turned 11 yesterday...hard to fathom. The child who made me a mom can't be 11 already. Where have those years gone...the playdates, the firsts, the learning how to be a parent at his expense....It has passed too quickly and makes me want to hold him even tighter...but no 11 year old boy will let their mom do that!

Happy Birthday Klem!

A Tiger in the Making ???

...or, we considered naming her Annika.....

it was a beautiful spring day so we headed to the driving range and let Leo & Eily whack away - or whiff away...whatever the case may be !

We truly did consider naming her Annika rather than Eily but as she spent more time planning her outfit
for golf than actually swinging a club it is probably better that she ended up as Eily!

The Before..... over school break we were busy turning my sewing room/guest room into a bedroom for Miss Eily! Of course all the kids had to help - imagine painting a rather small bedroom with 3 children! Eeek! It was actually very fun & they worked very hard...I am posting the BEFORE pics tonight as I have not taken any after pics yet!

Leo painted with a splint on his finger!

Eily asked if we could paint the ceiling white or if it had to stay HONEY MUSTARD color!
dad put in a nice new window the week before!
end of day 1... ran out of primer...back to home depot in the morning!
well...I also had a bit of fun with some new listings for the boys! Leo had been asking for some of his own gock's frocks so I indulged him and am offering them on etsy as well!

I need to accomplish quite a bit with this post so please excuse the length!

First...this post marks my 100th post so I would like to celebrate with a contest! I will choose a lucky winner from people who post a comment on this post- I will randomly select a name on Sunday night and post the winner here on Monday....what is up for grabs? A surprise from me! Don't hesitate to comment if you have no children - I make fun things for grown-ups too!! So..leave a comment by SUNDAY night and you'll have chance to win a little surprise!

Second - tag you're it x6! egads does that mean 42 things about me??? I fear you know too much already reading my blog LOL so I will stick to 7....

7. I make a mean chocolate chip cookie and I love to bake for our school bus driver

*****I too am going to pass on tagging 7 new folks as I could never catch the other kids when we played tag on the playground! ***********
