Favorite Photo

I wanted to share one of my new tutu photos...I loved how it came out with my new camera...I also just listed a custom tutu on ETSY..

I never FELT better....

last night I finished knitting my backpack to be felted...whoo hooo...if you have not tried this yet I will warn you that it is addicting!

For some reason I seem to do a lot of it in the summer...yes, pictue that, sitting on a beach chair ,90+ degrees...under a pile of wool yarn! Not sure why other than the fact that it is a portable craft and heaven forbid I sit and do nothing!
This is the second backpack I made this summer - the first turned out a little smaller than I wanted, so I knit a monster one...or so I thought. It is important to remember: do not fall alseep while felting...whoops, i closed my eyes for a few minutes last night after putting it in the washer and it ended up going through a full cycle, including the rinse &spin!
Oh well..now Eily has her eye on it in case my things don't fit inside ; )

So..here are the pictures...
(note cell phone for sze reference in before and after photos)

Fiber Fest 2007.....

the kids and I spent an amazing Saturday afternoon at a local fiber festival. What a treat for the senses...the colors and textures...I wanted to lose myself in the beauty of it all.
We saw alpaca, angora bunnies, flax being made into linen, lace making, weaving, spinning, silkworms, dyeing, knitting, felting...and the list goes on...

To market...to market....

Leo and I went on Thursday to our local farmers market for fresh produce

...we came home laden with tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, beans and so much more. I always get carried away by the freshness of it all... we came home and made the most delicious soup

Roasted Tomato Eggplant Soup...definitely one of the family favorites. I am hoping to make a tradition of this every thursday with Leo

End of Week 1...

first full week of school that is....so far so good for everybody.

Klem comes home more talkative than ever telling us stories about Mrs V and her 2 little boys. It is so wonderful to see him so animated and talkative about school...Ely gives the full fashion report at the end of her day...what her teacher had on, how high were her heels etc...& lovely, Leo...lets me know who had to go to the control area in gym or who threw up on the bus!

here are a few pics from their first day last week - ;)

Ouch!

We had a traumatic morning yesterday when I couldn't stop laughing when my daughter presented me with a bit of a dilemna...she had put her finger inside a little ceramic dog she had painted and gotten it stuck! Once I was able to stifle the giggles, I grabbed my camera...I mean the bottle of soap, and freed her from her doggy prison!

New Listing....

Awhile back I ordered a few fabrics from Japan...I have fially gotten around to listing my 2nd set with them...Little Inu...

Isn't my little model the cutest! Look for her in more gock's frocks auctions ~ she should be appearing later this week in another Japanese inspired, Euro styled dress!

We're back!

10 days away from civilization (well, sort of) and I was ready to get home to my sewing machines. It is odd how much I missed it - I took some knitting with me but there just wasn't the same sense of satisfaction as when I am sewing.

Since we got home on Sunday I have pulled together 2 new sets and a third is well underway. I am participating in a launch on ebay that is using the new fabric line fom Joel Dewberry...some of ebays finest are involved so be sure to check it out next week...
I also cut into some of Amy Butlers new fabric Nigella...yum!
Lots of ideas swirling in my head so pop back often to see what is new....

In the meantime, here area few of my favorite pics from vacation..

My 85 year old grandomther ~ she is the one who taught me to sew many moons ago!

Renaissace Festival....

We took a day trip to an amazing Renaissance festival nestled in the woods on a hillside near the lake...it was like stepping back in time. This was the 4th year in a row we have taken the kids and each year seems more enjoyable than the last...each year we also contemplate going in costume but somehow never plan far enough in advance. I am thinking of making the kids renaissance costumes for alloween this year and that way they will at least have something to wear for next summer!

As we walked around my mind was whirring with ideas and detais I saw...and my camera was snapping away (except my digital doesn't make that satisfying shutter click!)

Here are some of my favorites to share with you!

Look What we Found...

or I should say - Look what Eily & Leo found! Our ancient lilac tree succumbed to disease this year and finally died...but from something bad has sprung something amazing...the kids found this neat treasure yesterday...

right at the base of our driveway!! I hope they didn't disturb it too much and that the parents are somewhere near by...if we get babies I will post the pics here ;)

The color of the eggs is amazing ~I wish I were a painter and could capture it on canvas...
