A decade ... 10 years

we were just on the cusp of a new century - Y2K had passed by, who would have the first baby of the new millenium? I had a chance... I was due Jan 14th .... 2 weeks early and she could have been the first....but no, she decided to wait 10 more days and make her debut on her uncle's birthday!

It is so hard to believe that she is 10 .. I remember turning ten and thinking it was so cool I could say I was a decade old!

Happy Birthday to my sweetest Eily ... you bring sunshine into my life everyday with your love, compassion and caring for all around you!

I told you it was addictive.........

softies that is! My baby brother recently turned 30 so I wanted to make him something special for his birthday. His wife is living in Paris for the semester as she works on her doctorate and he is very lonely back in Brooklyn so I decided to make him some company. I emailed my SIL and asked her ..."If you were an animal, what animal would you be?"

Fortunately for me, she answered "a cat" - not sure what I would have done if she had answered something more challenging or obscure - cat I could handle!

So I set to work and came up with LuLu - the Parisian Kitty :)

She was a hit with Ben! I just forgot that he had to take her home on the plane...not sure how he explained that as he had not checked any bags - whoops!

Happy Birthday GGMa!

Today we celebated my grandmothers 85th bithday! Grandma Gocker is the person I credit with starting my love of sewing and needlework...she taught me to handsew when I was 8...we made a patchwork flannel quilt for my soon to be born sibling...Clarke!

Then in middle school she introduced me to her trusty Kenmore and we made a peasant skirt, petticoat and maching vest (am I dating myself yet?)..When I finally decided to embark on my latest sewing adventure I thought it was important to pay tribute to the woman who helped start it all - hence the birth of "gock's frocks" in honor of my grandma gocker!

A toast to you on your special day!

Eily and I spent some time photographing my newest designs for the Material Girls Freshcut launch which starts this Monday....we have all used Heather Bailey's Freshcut line of fabrics in our designs...I had so much fun with these gorgeous fabrics that I went a little crazy and made 4 outfits!

I took inspiration for one from a cute pic of
pants I saw in Garnet Hill...I loved the sailor style so I decided to put my own spin on that and came up with these...

I will post some more sneak peeks of the other pieces as the week unfolds and be sure to check them out on ebay

Here is a peek at the complete set...
