Last week on my birthday an extra special package arrived on my doorstep....



a box of goodies from Patty Young of ModKid Designs! Patty's new line of fabric, Flora & Fauna is set to debut in a couple of weeks at the Fall Quilt Market in Houston and she was looking for a but of help getting her samples ready for the show....so I was lucky enough to get to see this gorgeous fabric up close and make a new Frida for her booth!






These fabrics are simply gorgeous... wonderful prints and rich colors.... 44 new designs in all!

Quilt Market 2009

sorry to have taken so long to share my adventures at Quilt Market in Pittsburgh. I think writing the blog post really meant it was over for me and it was such a fantastic experience I did not want to admit it was over.

It felt a bit like Thelma & Lousie...Renee & I escaping from the daily grind...hoping in a car and hitting the road to Pittsburgh! We got a late start and ended up pulling in around 2am....our gracious host the Divine Lady M was there to greet us with a smile on her face and we stayed up chatting until almost 3am!

I was so excited to get to market the next morning I was up before 7am! We headed over the market and over to the Moda booth for my first ever Tweet Up! Arranged by the amazingly talented April Cornell



It was too cool to meet all of these people I had only met online before...I even offered to go to India if April needed help with her new endeavors!

I am so excited that I get to see Jennifer again next month at the SisBoom show at her home in Connecticut! Her 3, count them 3 new limes for Westminster are Gorgeous!

While at Westminster we also got the meet Project Runway winner and fabric Desinger Jay McCarroll! we even got a sneak peek of his new collection coming out this summer!



From there we headed to Patty Young's booth - the reason for coming to market!

Patty and I have been online friends for 3+ years so when I found out that Market was being held a short drive away I knew I had to come down to meet her. It was so fun to finally see her in person and meet her fabulous husband Jon. Pattys newest desings are gorgeous - LOVE the Mezzanine collection! I had actually placed my order for it BEFORE market and was excited to see it in person.

I have been selling handmade childrens clothing online for just about 3 years now. I got my start on ebay in a small group that had come together to help newcomers - or "newbies" such as myself, learn the rope of selling on ebay.

I learned SO much that first year, how to write HTML code to create "pretty" templates, what styles/elements sold well on ebay, how to capture a great photo of my designs and more....I also made my first online designer friends - or "imaginary" friends as we sometimes call each other!

Patty Young of Modkid fame was one of my first friends online. I have watched her grow from a wonderful clothing designer to an incredible fabric designer. The designers on ebay have come together to celebrate her successes and are featuring her new fabric line Andalucia for Michael Miller in our designs!

The end is in sight........

These pictures were taken in my living room on Saturday before I embarked on a crazy endeavor....cutting & shipping 46 bolts of fabric and 16 rolls of ribbon! My family was kind enough to let me take over while I finished the job....yesterday I managed to send out about 40 packages and today between making the stuffing and other turkey day dishes, I plan to finish up my task!
