Sunday morning we spotted the opening of the Macy's 34th annual flower show and decided to pop in to check it out

the store windows were decorated with a floral outfit from each decade...this was the 50s

we spotted my idol...up close & IN PERSON! Martha Stewart was there to cut the ribbon to open the show!

Sunday afternoon we spent a delightful afternoon watching a Pippi Longstocking marionette show at the Swedish Cottage in Central Park

this was followed by a stop at Dean & Delucca for some lunchtime provisions....only managed a few snaps before I was told pics aren't allowed

Monday Morning - Happy St Pat's day and Eily's first visit to American Girl Place

we stopped at the Hershey store where they had some of the designs from this seasons challenge!

a quick visit to MOOD! just to say I've been there ...no time for any real shopping, hoped to soak in some of the genius

I'm leaving on a jet plane...don't know when I'll be back again......

Ok - are you humming yet? showing your age??? I am not actually leaving on a jet plane but rather an amtrak train! Eily & I are headed for the Big Apple with my sister and her son for a couple of days in the big city! I'll have lots of fun pics to share when we get back!

I have been asked to participate in a show in Manhattan at the end of May!

Vida's Market

this is being held for the 1st time on May 31st and features over 50 vendors of childrens handmade items. I am so excited but also wondering where I will find the time to make enough items to take - and then how will I fit them all in the car to get down there LOL!

Tooting My Own Horn LOL....

mango moon madness!

when we were in Aspen, Klem asked if I could make him an ear flap - pilot style hat...in PINK! so when I stumbled upon this luscious yarn...carnation dreadlocks.... from Mango Moon I knew it was just what he was looking for.....the pattern is Nelly from Rowan and was knit on size 17 needles ... it took about 45 minutes start to finish!

when we got home the other kids really wanted one too but we were unable to find the mango moon locally so we headed off to the local yarn store and they choose some nice super bulky wool...

Egads!

it is March already - where did Feb go??? So sorry to have been MIA..I appreciate the emails asking if all was well ; )

Estate Sales....

I LOVE going to estate sales! We happened upon one this weekend in our neighborhood...it had been quite some time since I'd gone to one so I was a bit excited to see what there was...it was also a bit sad as I knew the couple who had lived there.

When we bought our house 11 years ago you would see them walking arm-in-arm through the neighborhood to get their daily exercise. I believe they were already in their 80s...He died 1st...she stopped taking her walks...then this fall she passed away. They had no children, nobody to clear out their house for them.

it made me think about the things I hang onto and cherish...what will others think of them when I am gone? The woman who lived there must have been quite a fashion plate in her day as we found fur hats and stoles in neatly labeled boxes as well as a box full of old hats....we couldn' t resist...many of them came home with us, along with some of her gloves...eily, leo & I spent the afternoon dressing up in her treasures...something a grandchild would have loved.

I hope she saw the happiness it brought us.

leo was waiting rather impatiently last weekend to leave for skiing...so needing to keep him occupied for a few minutes I handed him the juicer and a bag of oranges...
